I never believed in destiny, and I'm not sure than I even do now. But if ever there was something that might convince me, it's the strange force that tried for over two years to bring Chris and I together.
-We lived in the same residence hall. (Okay, no biggie, approximately 95% of freshmen lived in one of the three giant dorms. Odds were about 31% or so.)
-I made friends early on with a guy who happened to live on their exact hall. (Again, nothing too terribly special considering a had at least one friend on about half of the 36 various halls.)
-Before junior year I had a summer fling with a guy that played guitar for one of the local bands that I liked... who just so happened to have been roommates with Chris freshman and sophomore year. Chris had moved out of their apartment a couple of weeks before I started coming over constantly to hang out. (Whoa, getting kinda freaky.)
-Every semester I would sign up for one extra class than I needed and after attending the first day of class, I would pick which one would probably be the most difficult and drop it from my schedule. During the first day of a particular history class, I saw that I was one of three girls in the entire class, which was filled with very attractive boys. Oh yes. One of said boys proclaimed that he was from Lawrenceville, Georgia, which happened to be where my new roommates were from as well. I saw this as a perfect opportunity to make the class friend that I always try to make in order to have a study buddy. However, after being completely intimidated by the professor's sheer genius, I chose that class to be the one that I would drop. That boy from Lawrenceville was Chris. And he would have known my roommates and other L-ville acquaintances had I spoken with him, so he wouldn't have thought my opening line was completely strange and we probably would have befriended each other. (Seriously.)
-The next semester my roommate decided at the last minute to join me in taking a particular history course despite the fact that he was a political science major. It was because he added the class that he recognized Chris from high school on the first day and invited him to come and sit with us. (He was so cute... I was hooked.)
-Not to mention that I met my roommates through my aforementioned summer fling/former roommate of Chris.
After that first class, I proclaimed to my roommates something along the lines of: "Ohmygod he is so hot! He has the nicest calves I've ever seen. I have to have him."
No joke.
One very long semester full of giggles during lectures, "studying" for tests, and too many Colt 45 40's every week, we kissed. And to be honest, it was awful. But I was so smitten I didn't care. And that says a lot in and of itself.

Only Dead Fish Go With the Flow:
Talib is presumed dead.
The backstory: I cleaned poor Talib's bowl on Sunday and he was placed in one of my mugs until the new water in his bowl could be sure to be safely at room temperature. During my lunch break today, I intended on placing him back into his now clean home... but he was nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere. No Talib.

This is not actually Talib, but it is a beta fish and I suppose once you've seen one, you've seen them all.
There is something strange on the carpet directly below where his cup was... it could possibly be the dried up, possibly decaying carcass, but I am perplexed if this could happen after only a day. Maybe it's dog poo. Who knows? Regardless I am going to clean it up as soon as I get home today.
Now the question is: Should I get another one or call it quits with the aquatic friends?

Gadgets Needed, Apply Within:
Since my precious pup, Lily, opted to partially destroy the camera that my father randomly gave me last year, the idea of purchasing a fancy new camera has been on the brain. Okay, that's a total lie. I have been dreaming of taking fabulous photographs for a long while now. After a little research, this has been that dream camera as far as I am concerned:

A Nikon D40. What a wonderful piece of machinery it is. With a price tag of about $500 though, I just don't know if my bank account (or lack thereof) could handle such a fatal blow.
I bought this vintage goodie from eBay a few weeks ago thinking that it would satisfy my craving for cool photographs, but it has accomplished no such thing. Plus, Lily is terrified of it. Well, at least she won't chew the lens off of it? One can hope.

Also, after almost two years with my plum-colored phone, I am about ready for an upgrade. The thing works fine still and has done awesome with avoiding bumps and scratches... but two years is a long time. Unfortunately, I still have to wait another 32 days before I am eligible for an upgrade. This hasn't stopped my wandering mouse from going to the T-mobile website in search of the cutest option, however. Ya know, so I'll be prepared when that glorious day does arrive. Up until yesterday I have been largely disappointed with their selection, then I stumbled upon this beauty:

A Nokia 6301. So much better than any of the other "options" from T-mobile. So sleek. So sophisticated. Since it is still very new, the price is $80 even with the two-year contract renewal. Maybe it will come down a tad bit by the time I am able to actually purchase it? There I go hoping again. But unlike the Nikon, this will be mine sooner rather than later. Muhahaha!

Auntie Kim:
Tomorrow I get to pick up Amanda and baby Tobias from the airport! Ah! I cannot wait to finally meet this handsome fella and see my sister as a mommy! It's still so strange to think of her as a mom, but this is probably because I have yet to see it with my own eyes... all of that will change tomorrow at approximately 3:00!
Just look at this cutie, how could I not be totally excited?!

Arts & Crafts:
I love being creative. I'm not necessarily awesome at it... but I'd venture to say that I'm craftier than most. That being said, I really wish that I had a job that stimulated me creatively.
What exactly that dream job is, I don't know. That I could land said dream job with nothing but a $15 sewing machine, nice handwriting, and a degree in history, unlikely. Le sigh.

If I had the moo-lah to do crafty design projects constantly, I totally would. My paychecks would be spent at Michael's and papersource, while my weekends would be spent going to flea markets and garage sales searching for that perfect something. Instead, I suppose I'll have to live vicariously through blogs like The Lucky Nest. (I totally want to be her. She is so amazing.)
