Alright, alright, I know that I love 'Gossip Girl' more than any self-respecting adult ever should... But Monday nights are bliss for me and I eat up every Hermes bag and moment of sexual tension.

This promo has been stuck in my head for weeks now... I love it.



I hated this song when I heard it, but being paired in such amazing fashion with the character I guiltily swoon over has made me do an about face. Damn you, Gossip Girl. Ugh.

Boys:

I just wanted to say that I had one of the most fun and ridiculous weekends of my life. I have found a great group of new friends and have been having so much fun with them for the past couple of weeks.

We drank too much killer kool-aid, played lots of Rock Band, grilled some deer burgers, watched football, drank too many Jager bombs, and cracked jokes until we could barely breathe. It was wonderful.

I have always been a guys-girl and tend to gravitate towards tight-knit groups of guys... which is exactly what these guys are, and I love it. I don't think I stopped laughing all weekend... :)

Friday Foolishness:

Yes, Halloween is still two days away, but I will be celebrating tonight since 90% of Athens will be heading south to Jacksonville for the big game against Florida this weekend, thus leaving Lily and I in the dust. It's okay though, because I have a midterm bright and early Monday morning, so there will be less to distract me from my studies.

Who Would Wanna Be Such an Asshole:

I really want to get my hands on a copy of "Blowing My Hero" by Amber O'Neil (pseudonym). She is the real-life Tanya in Bukowski's "Women"... the 90 lb. girl from San Fransisco that sent pictures of her "c*nt", as Bukowski likes to say.

I found a forum where Amber herself starts to post in an attempt to answer people's questions and confront their criticisms. Who knows if it really was her posting, but she speaks very eloquently and even offers to meet up with anyone in San Fran who'd like to read the book!

The book goes for around $200 in various places because it is extremely rare... She was unable to officially publish it because it contains actual letters that Bukowski sent to her during their correspondence. The only copies in rotation are a hundred or so that she copied at a Kinkos... 400 more are in boxes at her house since she has received strict instructions not to infringe on the copyright laws over personal letters.

Oh well. But here is Modest Mouse's song "Bukowski". It has been stuck in my head for days...

(Halfsie) Anniversary:

Today marks a year and a half since Chris and I awkwardly proclaimed our affections for one another and began our relationship. We're only 5 months away from breaking the record for "Kim's longest relationship"... Chris' got smashed a lot time ago, I do believe. Yay us.

To celebrate, we decided that we would skip the exchanging of tangible objects in lieu of an activity that we could partake in together and enjoy. My great discovery: Aziz Ansari from Human Giant is coming to Athens! Chris and I looooved that show and Aziz was always our favorite. Since neither of us has ever been to a stand-up comedy show, I thought this would be a perfect date night for us!

Only problem is, the show isn't until December. Sadness. I bought the tickets anyways, and just told Chris about it last night at midnight. He is even more excited than I thought he would be, so I guess we have something to look forward to once classes are done and there is kind of a lull before the holidays. :)

Not surprisingly, he has yet to come up with an idea for his activity... and it's already the afternoon of our anniversary. Don't I have such a romantic boyfriend? Le sigh.

Okay, so I'll admit, I kinda love Gossip Girl... it's got killer fashion and most importantly, it's not a reality show! I can't stop watching these spoiled Manhattan débutantes every week, and really, I don't care.

Like I hinted at a couple of days ago, I got some ink done last night. I'm going through an internal struggle about anonymity and thus, don't know whether or not I will be sharing pictures. (This is my second tattoo for those of you who don't know me!)

I will however, highly recommend Radar (formerly of Pain & Wonder). He just opened up his very own shop called Walk the Line right on Broad Street in the heart of downtown Athens. He was somehow able to give me exactly what I wanted even though I wasn't even sure of what that was. I was terrified that I would nit-pick the design to death, but the moment I saw it I knew that it was perfect and it is absolutely beautiful.

And as a side note: the ribs hurt like a bitch and I'm in some serious pain today.

Friday Foolishness:

After a hectic week of illness and chaos, I thought it'd be nice to share one of my all-time favorite videos... This is absolutely classic.

As with most of my "Friday Foolishness" videos, this is yet another that Chris and I continue to quote in our daily lives. One person cannot possibly say "Do you love me?" without the other breaking into song while asking "Are you playing your love gaaaaames with me?"

My Personal Opinion:

It's no secret that I went through a time period in which I was basically addicted to WeddingBee. I read every post. Even though I have no plans for nuptials in the near future whatsoever, it was fun to read!


News broke yesterday that WeddingBee has been sold to eHarmony.com. Although I was very happy to see Miss Gingerbread, Miss Cream Puff, and Miss Sweet Tea stand up to this site's policies against matching same-sex couples, this definitely makes me look at the site differently and although I previously was certain that I'd apply for a Bee position when that day came (if the site still existed at that point, of course), I won't be doing that given their new affiliation. I'd be working (for free!) for a company that goes against everything I believe... no thank you.

And now I feel like it's my duty to stick it to the man and withdraw my devotion to the site and set off for greener pastures (i.e. design blogs). In mourning of WeddingBee's principles, here is a list of some of my favorite and not-so-favorite Bees over the past:

Favorites:
Miss Lovebug- Her wit and word play often got my laughing out loud, not to mention the fact that her dress was flat out gorgeous. Somewhat unconventional but totally creative, I got a lot of awesome inspiration from this talented lady!
Miss Cream Puff- After I saw the wonder that was her invitation suite, I was hooked. As a graphic designer she had some great things to bring to the table, and I really enjoyed following her crafting endeavors.
Miss Pineapple- This Bee just seemed so gosh-darned down to Earth, which I absolutely love!
Miss Meatball- Sassy and fun-loving, this veggie and I have different taste but I still loved reading her posts! She's one of those gals that I'd be friends with... ya know, if I actually knew her. ;)
Miss Lemonade- A true Southern belle from Texas, this Bee is absolutely gorgeous and I have loved a lot of the things that she shared.
Miss Candy Corn- Her endearing quirkiness was just so refreshing and fun to read. Plus, the girl can draw... a talent that I am so sad to not possess myself.

Hit and Miss:
Miss Avocado- This woman had the nerve to plan her wedding before she even got engaged! I'm talking booked the venues, bought the dress, the whole nine! It really is embarrassing. Not to mention the fact that she's a Mormon... which I can't really get down with.
Miss Pinot Noir- Her taste is deplorable. From her invitations to the guestbook in quilt form (no seriously, a full on quilt will be made)... I would cringe every time she made a design choice.
Miss Flip Flop- Sorry but I think that a Disney wedding is lame.
Miss Ballet Flat- I just wasn't feelin it (not only because she is a LSU fan/alum, either).
Miss Sea Breeze- Her posts were entirely too long-winded.

Miss Flip Flop did slightly redeem herself, however, when she withdrew her membership from the hive due to the eHarmony affiliation. Major props for that.

(Again, these are my opinions and I don't mean any disrespect to anyone over at WeddingBee.)

Meh:

Like I said, I read "Choke" recently and was super pumped to see the movie this weekend. The trailer was slightly discouraging because it seemed as if it would be a comedy with little emphasis on the dark side of the novel... but I went anyways. I really couldn't enjoy the movie because a. I knew what was going to happen, b. I couldn't stop thinking about all of the differences from the book and just enjoy.

I should have known better... I like to go into a movie knowing absolutely nothing about the plot or anything. This allows for a more complete surprise aspect and more raw enjoyment of the film on my part. Oh well. If you haven't read the book, the movie was quite good... Chris definitely enjoyed it.

I think next time I'll steer clear of doing this though.

I've Been (Im)patiently Waiting:

When I went to see the Sex and the City movie with my wonderful friend V, we saw the trailer for a movie that was sure to be the cause for our next girl's-night-out... At the end it proudly proclaimed "Coming August 2008". So sure. So concrete. August came and went and there were no promos for this film we were so thrilled to see on the big screen... I was perplexed.

Then I saw on Perez that there were some hold ups on the part of the movie company. He blamed it on Jennifer Anniston sucking (he really hates her, I don't get it!), but either way it meant that the release would be postponed. This came to mind today and I took to Google to find out...

"He's Just Not That Into You" now has a release date of February 6th.



The inspiration came from Sex and the City, the book did phenomenally well, it has a star-studded cast to say the least... I just don't get why it has been pushed back from a prime summer date, to the middle of winter. Yuck! It will probably be totally corny, but I love a mindless romantic comedy, especially when there are actually decent actors involved.

For all of you Big Love fans, Ginnifer Goodwin (Margene) is in the movie! I think she is so beautiful and I can't wait to see her in some more roles!

I Guess It Ain't A Secret Anymore:

If you recall, in this episode of the much-missed Sex and the City Ms. Bradshaw talks about "Secret Single Behavior"... ya know, those little routines or indulgences that you do when you are single, or when your man is not around? Charlotte admits that she would look at her pores in a magnified mirror for hours. (Way to rub it in that you have flawless skin, you evil wench!) Carrie's SSB: eating peanut butter crackers while reading fashion magazines... in her kitchen... standing up. I loved this so much because it is eerily similar to my SSB of dipping Ritz crackers straight into the peanut butter jar for a yummy snack while watching old Sex and the City re-runs in my slippers.

(Disclaimer: I swear I am the neatest person at the cracker-dipped-into-the-peanut-butter-jar ever. There is a long running joke in my family about the manner in which I like to butter my bread, and if you've ever seen my accomplish this task, you know that it is were my OCD shines at it's brightest and describing the act as "meticulous" only begins to scratch the surface. I promise the two are very similar.)

It's not that I am embarrassed about this behavior (obviously, since I am plastering it all over the world wide web) but it is just one of those things that I love to do when I'm alone. But I caught myself doing it in front of Chris the other day... I didn't realize what I was doing until my tongue was already sticking to the roof of my mouth from the peanut buttery goodness. Surprisingly it felt okay. I think that this is a true testament to how comfortable I am around him now... which feels nice.

I Would Marry Stafford:

For the first time since 1998, ESPN's College GameDay will be coming to Athens, Georgia this weekend for our game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Anyone who is a Georgia Bulldogs fan knows that ESPN basically hates us. Every week they barely talk about us or completely omit our best highlights. The anti-Georgia bias is blatant and ridiculous.

I am so glad to finally be getting some recognition, and I cannot wait to be at this game. Night games always provide for added enthusiasm (it's much easier to scream your ass off when you're not battling a heat stroke). The energy in Sanford Stadium is going to be out. of. control. Hopefully it will top the Florida and Auburn games from last season, although I don't know if that's possible.

And maybe Knowshon will do another one of these:


Oh yeah, and there is going to be this. Hell yes.

Choke:

I read Fight Club back in high school and had heard great things about all of Chuck Palahniuk's books, but I originally went in for "Invisible Monsters". That was until I saw a little sticker saying "Now a major motion picture". Oh yeeeeeah... I heard they were making it a movie! I thought might as well read it before the movie comes out. I can get to "Invisible Monsters" later.

Well, come to find out the movie starts next Friday! Woot! The only things is, it will only be in selected theaters. I have yet to figure out a way to see if any theaters here in Athens will even be playing it. I guess I'll find out next week!

I really liked the book and am definitely interested to see how graphic they get with some of the sex scenes... but after watching the trailer, it looks like it'll be pretty raunchy.

My Personal Victory:

I already confessed my dirty little secret... and after being unable to spark any interest that weekend, I opted to figure out a new strategy: find more interesting things to read. I headed over to Barnes & Noble after work yesterday and came out with three new books.

Last night I finished this book:



I enjoyed it thoroughly and didn't put it down until I finished. Personal victory... woot woot!

I immediately picked up the next book in my stack... I'll let you know what it is once I finish, but I will tell you:
a) I was shocked to see the main character having the same name as one of my more significant ex's... and sharing a couple of his key character traits. (As you'll see, this is not a good thing.)
b) I woke up this morning dying to curl up in my papasan and pick up where I left off last night. Maybe... dare I say... I'm cured?
